The Willie Maddren trophy is a charity football competition. It is named after Middlesbrough FC player Willie Maddren who was diagnosed of Motor Neurone Disease 4 years before he died.[1] The competition is a single charity match and the proceeds go towards the Mike Findley MND Fund.[2] The match his held at Mount Pleasant stadium Marske and has featured many celebrities in the past such as Chris Kamara, Craig Hignett, and Bernie Slaven. Furthermore the cast of Emmerdale have fielded a team in recent years. Marske United won in 2009 [3]
