WJChess is chess software written by Jean-François Gazet. It runs on Windows XP and higher, and on Linux using Wine. The chess engine and the 2D version are free. The 3D version is shareware, offering many chess models and backgrounds.
The first release was broadcast on the Internet in November 2002. It can communicate with a GUI like WinBoard or Arena using XBoard and UCI protocols. The GUI for WJChess 2D was developed with Visual Basic 6.0. The 3D version, was released on March 1, 2004. It is written in Visual C++ and implemented with the graphics library OpenGL.
