VoiceGem is an asynchronous voice messaging platform. VoiceGem is based in Sunnyvale and was founded in 2012 by Arda Kara and Alexander Blessing. It allows anyone to send voice messages to email addresses and Facebook friends, and has both a web and an iOS interface. The service was launched in August 2012 [1][2] and has received initial funding from YCombinator.

In August 2012, the company launched its first API for developers, allowing web sites to integrate a voice messaging service for their users.[3]
