This can be alluded as a positive result of the exercise that many Pokot leaders by then and the larger pastoralist community still curse up to this date since many lives were lost, grave atrocities met to the locals as they tried to resist and so many thousands of livestock confiscated and lost. Immediately after the 1984 operation Mr. Lolem started his primary schooling in a local primary school, Katuperot primary school before transferring to Lokichar primary school which was a boarding school in the then larger Kacheliba division after the latter closed down as a result of the catchment population migrating further for pasture to Uganda. The school closed because parents moved with their children and thus had no more pupils since it was a day school thus did not favour the pastoralists’ life style. Again in 1987 after a neighbouring community, the Karamojong incursion (the Katululuyon invasion), Mr. Lolem family had to move eastwards to Timale area, Lokwaloi village where it forced transferring school again to Timale primary school, where Mr. Lolem successfully completed his eight year primary education in 1992. Mr. Lolem proceeded to Sacho high school in 1993 for his secondary education. He successfully completed in 1996 and got admitted in 1998 to Moi University College of health sciences to pursue Bachelor of Science degree in environmental health. Graduated in late 2002 and currently employed by Ministry of Public health and sanitation as an environmental health officer based at the ministry’s head quarters. Presently Mr. Lolem his pursuing a Master’s of Science in project management at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Being among the first graduates from Lokichar location in Kacheliba division and the first Pokot community public health graduate, Katuperot school and the larger community is proud to be associated with Mr. Lolem and wish him successful professional and community service activities.
