The Mental Broccoli Project are a band and a self-proclaimed synthesis of rock, blues, jazz, and experimental music. The project was created in Tustin, California on June 1st, 2011 as part of a collaboration between composer, arranger, producer, recording engineer, pianist, bassist, and guitarist James Robert Simmons or Jim/Jimmy and songwriter, vocalist, and co-producer Raymond (Ray) Cisek. Other instrumental instrumentalist include Daniel Rodriguez and Craig Erickson for their drumming. They are a widely unknown band as of July 2012. The name 'Mental Broccoli' originated from Ray Cisek's logic professor at Irvine Valley College in Irvine, California when the professor stated to his students, "Brain teasers are good for you. They're like mental broccoli".

The band has produced an album entitled, "Occupied" consisting of seven tracks. The release for the second album is due for summer 2012 entitled, "House of Fools". Their music can be heard and follwed at
