"Take a Hint" is a song by American actresses Victoria Justice and Elizabeth Gillies, first seen in an episode of the Nickelodeon teen sitcom Victorious. It is the lead single from the second soundtrack.
The song is about girls' frustration when boys they are not interested in will not stop trying to ask them out on a date. In lyrics they ask the boys harassing them to "take a hint" and realize they are making them uncomfortable, but the boys in the song do not. The lyrics state that "trying to be polite" does not work, so they are quite blunt about the fact that they would like the boys to stop. In response to physical harassment, they threaten to defend their personal space physically ("get your hands off my hips before I punch you in the lips").
"Take a Hint" is a guitar-lifted electronic rock song of only two minutes, thirty-seven seconds. The song features aggressive lyrics with low notes on vocals.
