Svenya Catrice Nimmons was born on March 24, 1977 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the parents of Tyrone and Johanna Nimmons. She is best known for her self-help book for biracial teens called, "Just Because I'm Mixed Doesn't Mean I'm Confused: Empowering Within and Discovering Your Hairitage" in which kicked off her popularity in the biracial community and through the media.

She continues to tour the US for appearances to discuss the issues of healthy biracial and multi-cultural family lifestyles.
