Srivaishnava Siddhantam is as old as Veda itself. All the Vedas, Upanishads, Ithihasa Puranas, and the Pancharatra/Vaikanasa Vaishnava Agamas undoubtedly establish the Supremacy of Lord Srimannarayana and Srivaishnavam. After the puranic period, the great mystic saints, the Alwars were born in different parts of South India to spread Srivaishnavam and steadfast faith and devotion to Srimannarayana. They expressed their divine experience of God and his glorious kalyanagunas in their mystic outpourings in chaste Tamil language which are collectively known as Nalayira Divya Prabandham. These divine songs contain rich philosophical and religious thoughts drawn from the Upanishads and Ithihasa Puranas. They cover all the essential teachings of Srivaishnavam and thus made a very great contribution for further development by our Purvacharyas like Sri Nathamuni, Sri Alavandar, Sri Ramanujar and others acharyas who came after the Alwars. Sri Ramanujar made the most significant contribution to the development and propagation of the Visishtadvaita Philosophy and Srivaishnavam. Being a Philosopher and Scientific thinker, Swami Ramanuja systematized the system of thought of Srivaishnavism and the Alwar’s pasurams, and propagated it among the masses. He established 74 Simhasanapathis all over and toured extensively throughout the country. He visited all the Srivaishnava Divya Desams where the presiding deities are copiously praised by the mystic saints, the Alwars.

Sri Koil Kanthadai Sudhasatvam Sirupuliyur Koil Annan Swamy Thirumaligai is one of the oldest Sri Vaishnava religious institution. This thirumaligai follows the Thenkalai tradition of Sri Vaishnava culture. The thirumaligai has Sri Pillai Lokacharya and Sri Manavala Mamunigal as the torch bearers of Sri Ramanujar’s teachings and VisishtAdvaitam. The thirumaligai traces its roots to Sri Komandur Elayavilli Achan, who was one among the 74 Simhasanapathis and was the first acharyan.
