The currently untitled upcoming eighth studio album by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira is scheduled to be released in spring 2013 by Roc Nation.[2] Contributions to the album's production comes from a wide range of producers including Afrojack, RedOne, and Ne-Yo, seeking to enter a new sound with Shakira.[3] The first single was expected to be released in September 2012, with the album to be released at the end of the year[4], though both were into early 2013 after the announcement of Shakira's pregnancy.[5]

Background

Shakira was interviewed by Billboard.com regarding her next project. When asked about her next endeavour, she replied:

"I already started to write new material. I've begun to explore in the recording studio whenever I have time in Barcelona and here in Miami. I'm working with different producers and DJs, and I try to feed off from that and find new sources of inspiration and new musical motivation. I'm anxious to return to the studio. My body is asking for it."[6]
In February 2012, it was revealed that Shakira signed to Roc Nation under management purposes for her upcoming album.[7]

"The composition is not guided by nothing more than for my own inspiration. When there is a letter or a melody, just the job to take what seems best at the time. My job as a producer is the continuation of the previous process, but is not subject to what is or what it sounds like behind the studio door."
