Sathish Kumar Sivalingam (born 6th January 1969) is a Sri Lankan social worker and Government servant. Currently he is attached to the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reform as a senior consultant to the Hon. Minister. He was a justice of peace (in 1989 at the age of 20), contested in the parliamentary election in 2004 under United National Party (UNP). And also was a member of Municipal as the youngest elected member in 1991-1997 in Ratnapura.
In 1997-2006, he was an active member of the National Executive Committee of UNP(appointed by the leader of the party). In 1989-1994 a member of working committee of youth league. He also was an executive member of United Professional Group (UPG) in 2001-2004.
Last 12 years he served to the Government sector in capacities of consultant, to the Hon.Deputy Minister of Vocational & Technical Training, Interpreter to the late president his excellency Ranasinghe Premadasa and his excellency D.B.Wijetunga and gained more experience, Executive Director/Working Director of the Cey-Nor Foundation, Director - Ministry of Rehabilitation & Resettlement & Refugees, Media Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration and Home affairs and also consultant Director to the Special Media Unit of the Government.
Early life and education
His primary education was in Ratnapura. He is a Graduate and Diploma holder in Journalism at Colombo University. In-spite of that he is a MA holder in Public Administration, MPhil in Public Administration.
Before he entered the Government Sector, Sathish Kumar worked for the private sector, as an Executive News Editor for Shakthi TV, Shakthi FM and MTV Media Network. News consultant to the news division for Sri lanka Broadcasting Corporation. Director Administration and Chief Editor to Amudham Magazine, Director Administration to Angles Property Development Ltd-UK-(London), Youth Service Officer in National Youth Services Council (1989-1991).
