  • 1994 SLR is originally founded in the UK as SECOR Ltd by David Richards and Alan Sheppard with the registered company office located in Oxford.
  • 1995 Additional UK offices are opened in Bath, Nottingham and Redditch.
  • 2000 The senior management team of SECOR Ltd completes a Management Buyout and the company's name is changed to SLR.

[1]SLR opens a fifth office in the UK and its first office in Scotland (Edinburgh). SLR establishes U.S. operations and opens offices in Seattle. An office is opened in Northern California.

  • 2001 U.S. operation expands into Alaska with new offices established in Anchorage and Fairbanks. [2]
  • 2004 Private equity investment is secured from ISIS Equity Partners, who invest £4.85 million as part of a £13 million investment and take a minority stake in the company. [3]
  • 2005 SLR acquires the UK-based Waste Management Engineering Limited (WMEL) so as to expand its capabilities in waste treatment and pollution control. The first office in Wales (Cardiff) is opened. [4] Offices are opened in Portland, Oregon. Additional offices are opened in Salt Lake City and Richmond, Virginia.
  • 2007 SLR renews agreement with Maltese firm, AIS Environmental Ltd. [5] An agreement is signed between SLR and German Energy from Waste specialists, Born and Ermel. [6] SLR acquires the UK-based landscape architect company Insite Environments. [7] SLR acquires Canadian company SEACOR Environmental Inc. SEACOR (Canada). [8]
  • 2008 The U.S. operation opens a new office in Indiana. 3i invests £32.5 million in SLR, and replaces ISIS Equity Partners as minority shareholder, a significant minority stake in the Company. [9] SLR acquires the UK-based company FMH Consulting Engineers. [10]

SLR acquires the Irish Dublin-based environmental consultancy CSA. [11] SLR signs a collaborative agreement with Greek environmental company, EPEM. [12] SLR signs a collaboration agreement with Abu Dhabi-based EDESSA. [13] SLR acquires the specialist mineral planning, landscape and land management firm Bowman Planton (BPL). [14] SLR acquires Architecture and Planning Solutions (APS). [15] SLR's U.S. operation opens a new office in Houston, Texas.

  • 2009 SLR opens its first office in Northern Ireland.
  • 2010 SLR acquires Hoefler Consulting Group (HCG). [16]SLR acquires Australia based Heggies Pty Limited.

  • 2011 SLR acquires South African based company GreenEng. [19]

SLR acquires South African based company Metago. [20] SLR acquires Bittner Water Consult CC based in Namibia, a groundwater consulting firm which carries out sustainable development, protection and management of ground and surface water services. [21]

  • 2012 SLR acquires A Speiser Environmental Consultants (ASEC), a Namibian-based specialist consultancy that has established a strong reputation for its holistic approach to EIAs. [22]
