Richard Buchwald was a Cleveland artist, creator of numerous first day stamp covers, a director of illustration at NASA, loving lifetime Husband of Marion Haake Buchwald father of three children, grandfather of five. He was born, lived and prospered in what he called the best location in nation, Cleveland Ohio. An early landscape painting from 1911 is i is his first remaining artwork that is known to exist. He created the American Navy Cancel Society - ANCS, and was among a group of ANCS artists that referred to themselves as THE ARGONAUTS exchanging artwork among themselves through the Navy and United States Postal Services.
