Rashami Desai (born 13 February 1986) is an Indian television actress. She is best known for playing the role of Tapasya Raghuvendra Pratap Rathore in the popular television soap opera, Uttaran on Colors, for which she bagged many accolades, Preeti (Icchadhari Naagin / Daayan) in Adhuri Kahaani Hamari on &TV and Shorvori in Dil Se Dil Tak on Colors.[3] She acted in several B grade movies before shifting to television. She has also acted in Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Manipuri and Bhojpuri movies. She was also a contestant on the dance reality shows Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 in 2012, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 6 in 2014 and Nach Baliye 7 in 2015.

Desai was part of the Swachh Survekshan 2017 Initiative in 2016. An initiative for an environmentally cleaner India (Swachh Bharat Abhiyan).[4] She played a cameo role as Priya in Star Plus show Ghar Aii Hamari Pyaare Bahu.


Desai, who started her career at an early age, got her first break in Ravan on Zee TV followed by Meet Mila De Rabba on Sony TV and started acting in the show Uttaran on Colors from 20 June 2009. Later, in March 2012 she opted out of Uttaran as she didn't believe she could portray an older role after the leap.[5] On 7 November 2012, she returned to Uttaran in positive shades.[6]

Desai has worked in other serials including Pari Hoon Main, Kisne Pyaar Hogya and Apna Pyaar Kya Hai. She has also done episodes for Ssshhhh...Phir Koi Hai. She has featured in reality shows such as Comedy Circus, Maha Sangram, Zara Nachke Dikha, Crime Patrol, Big Money, Kitchen Champion Season 2, Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala and Jhalak Dikhhla Ja.

Desai has took part in several dance and reality TV shows including Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 which aired on Colors TV.[7] On the show she spoke about her miscarriage and other contestant felt that it was all done for sympathy.[8][9] She also appeared on the Shekhar Suman hosted show Movers and Shakers.[10]

In 2015, Desai participated in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi but got eliminated. Later she was brought back on the show as wild card. She then participated in Nach Baliye 7 along with Nandish Sandhu. The both became a finalist. Desai also was seen in shows like Ishq Ka Rang Safed and Adhuri Kahaani Hamari. In 2016, Rashami was seen in Star Plus popular show Ghar Aii Hamari Pyaare Bahu playing a positive naagin.

As of February 2017, Desai is playing the role of Shorvori in the Colors show Dil Se Dil Tak.

Personal life

Desai married her co-star from Uttaran, Nandish Sandhu, on 12 February 2012. They tied the knot in Dholpur.[11] In 2013, Desai became pregnant but suffered from a miscarriage. Due to the miscarriage, problems started taking place in their lives. In 2014, Desai and Sandhu started staying separately due to some differences. However, resolving all differences, they came back together and apparently patched up. In 2015, the couple filed for divorce after four years of marriage.[12]
