With boxing Raitis Sinkēvičs got acquainted at age of 14, when he started to attend boxing club in his hometown Jelgava, that he still hasn`t quit from. He became serious about this type of sports and faced his first big challenge in 2006, when he managed to take 5th place of lightweight category (under 57 kg) in U-17 Cadet World Championship, Istanbul, Turkey. During the 2-year period of 2007 and 2008 Latvian boxer had 9 fights in total. He came second in Latvian Junior Boxing Championship 2007, but a year later, when during two summer period he gained weight by 17 kg, he obtained his first title of Professional career by coming first in Latvian Junior Boxing Championship 2008 (weight category 75kg). In 2008 he took part in the Youth World Amateur Boxing Championship that was held in Guadalajara, Mexico, but suddenly got sick from food poisoning, what stopped him from achieving success. In 2009 Raitis took part in Latvian Boxing championship where he came first, but this time as a senior already. This championship turned out to be a turning point for Boxer`s professional career, because 4 days after championship had passed he felt pain on his back, that was caused by overstrained back muscles. Due to this injury he couldn’t accomplish proper training for a while. In order to participate in Latvian Boxing Championship 2010 he went through intensive course of medical procedures to reduce pain. As the pain ease worked only for a short time period he couldn’t finish his fight. During the semi final doctors drew a conclusion of his arm being broken and he had to stop fighting, thereby placing 3rd. He was prescribed a long term treatment after which in the latter half of 2010 he started training again to get back in shape, because next Latvian Championship was only 6 months away. He won the first fight with unanimous decision of judges over his opponent and faced frequent Latvian Boxing Champion Nikolaj Grisunins in the final. He did well, but lost the fight coming 2nd. According to information available on internet, the latest achievements known is first place in the International boxing championship “Jelgava Open 2012”, that happened earlier this year from 9th to 11th of March.
