Olle Gunnar Westling (born 7 January 1945) is a Swedish socionom and the father of Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland, the husband of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.[1]

Life and career

Westling started his career at Löfs Livsmedel in Bollnäs as a store clerk. Later he worked some years at Tuppz bil as lagerbud before coming to Bollnäs järnhandel. At Bollnäs järnhandel, Westling began his career as a salesman. During the 1960's, Westling advanced to become a salesman at Bil och Buss i Bollnäs. The sales career was temporarily interrupted when Olle Westling volunteered for service within the United Nations from 1965 to 1966, deployed on the Swedish battalion in Gaza.

After doing volunteered service, Westling began studies at the School of Social Work. During his study he married Ewa Westring with whom he has two children, Anna and Daniel. After completing his studies, he began his municipal career in social services. Later, Westling become social services manager in Sandviken municipality.

As social services manager, Westling has been credited for his openness and for several times jumped into places where the need for extra personnel, such as in nursing homes.

Westling's interests include hunting, motorcycles and family.[2]
