Native is the upcoming third studio album by American rock band OneRepublic.[1] It is expected for release in early 2013.[2]

Background

On February 4, 2012, OneRepublic officially announced via Twitter that they had begun work on their third studio album, and that it was scheduled to be released in Fall 2012. They stated that it would be preceded by a lead single to be released in April/May 2012.[3] In March 2012, a new track entitled "Life in Color" was used in a Ralph Lauren fragrance advertisement, anticipating their Big Pony women's fragrance collection. This is the second time that a OneRepublic track had been featured in an advertisement for Ralph Lauren, after "Secrets" was used promoting the Big Pony men's fragrance collection in 2011.[4] On April 5, 2012, the band said on Twitter that they were the most confident with the tracks "What U Wanted", "Burning Bridges", and "Let's Get Lost". They also confirmed that "Life in Color" may be released a single some time in the future, however that it would not be the lead single from the album, and stated that "Feel Again" could be used as the lead single from the album.

On July 6, 2012, OneRepublic confirmed that they had chosen "Feel Again" to be released as the lead single from their third album. "Feel Again" was performed live for the first time on August 10, 2012 on Good Morning America, and the track was released to U.S. airplay on August 22, 2012. The song was released for digital download on August 27, 2012, with an accompanying music video being released the following day.[5][6][7]

The second single "If I Lose Myself" will be released worldwide to radio and for digital download on January 8, 2013. [8][9][10]. It will be released to US Top 40 radio stations on January 29, 2013.[11]

The album was initially planned to be released in November 2012, however it is expected that the album will be delayed as production for the album is ongoing, [12][13] with the album planned for completion (not release) by December 6, 2012. [14]

On December 25, 2012, OneRepublic posted a snippet for a new song titled, "Counting Stars", which they wrote while they were in Greece. They have stated the song was inspired by insomnia and life.[15]

Promotion

OneRepublic will promote Native by touring North America in Summer 2013, and will be doing university gigs and shows in the United States, the Middle East, and Asia in Spring 2013.[16] They will also tour United Kingdom and Ireland.[17]
