The Marcy Levy Band was a blues-oriented band fronted by ex-Shakespears Sister member Marcella Detroit. Detroit described the project as "getting back to my roots, the stuff that expired me in the first place. So I decided to contact all my blues friends and do a record."[1]

2002-2007: Button Fly Blues and The Upside of Being Down

The Marcy Levy band's debut EP Button Fly Blues received a limited release under Handmade Records, Detroit and the band's only release with the label.[2] During this era, they also toured with Carlos Guitarlos.[3] They released their debut studio album The Upside of Being Down in July 2006 under Detroit's independent label Lofi Records, and split in 2007.
