The "Major Mini-Stick League" is a 4-team teenage mini-stick league based in Waterloo Region, Ontario. The league was founded in December 2011 and is in its first season. The league is looking to expand for the 2012-13 season.

MMSL regular season games are 30 minutes long and consist of three 10-minute periods. If teams are tied after regulation they play a 5-minute overtime period and if the game is still not decided, go to an ice-hockey style shootout. "Mini-stick nets" of various sizes are used for games. Teams play with a goaltender and one player. Goals can be scored by anyone on the playing surface and "high-stick" goals are allowed. Penalties are called for standard hockey infractions (ex. slashing, high-sticking, cross-checking, checking-from-behind, etc.). Players serve 1 minute for minor penalties and 3 minutes for major penalties (fighting and checking-to-the-head). Games are played at players' houses.

MMSL Cup: the championship trophy of the Major Mini-Stick League

With four teams in the league, each team plays 24 games playing all other teams 8 times; 4 home and 4 away. The games are weekly, usually played on Friday. Teams are seeded using a standard hockey standings setup (by points, 2 points for a win, 1 for an overtime or shootout loss). The second and third ranked teams play in a best-3-of-5 semifinal while the first place team gets a bye to the MMSL Cup Final and plays the winner of the semi-final in a best-4-of-7 series.

There have many rumoured awards for the 2011-2012 season such as MVP, Best Beast, Best Grinder, Best Goalie and Best Rookie.

All teams consist of at least two players with some teams having alternate players.

The league is looking to expand for the 2012-2013 season. Four new teams may be entered into the league. If the expansion happens the league will split into two divisions which will be called the West Division and East Division or Waterloo Division and Kitchener Division.
