"Light Up the Night" is a song by American hip hop music group The Black Eyed Peas. It was written by William Adams, Allan Pineda, Keith Harris and Ricky Walters. The song was released on November 24, 2010 worldwide and on November 26 on iTunes. It was the second promotional single from the album as part of the "Countdown to The Beginning", the first being "Do It Like This".

Background

The hi-hat effect and horn-like background track are both sampled from Ricky Walter's, aka Slick Rick, own hit, "Children's Story."

The song is part of the official setlist of the group's tour in association with their album The Beginning, The Beginning Tour. In the same setlist are included the three singles from the album and songs such as "The Best One Yet (The Boy)".

Critical reception

Chad Grischow of IGN said that the song has "a lot of noise and hectic pace". Gavin Martin of the Daily Mirror said: "The determination of the band mixing past, present and future is fun, especially in the song Light Up the Night where a synthesized voice Fergie says, "Wait a minute."
