Lia Lahren (pronounced: Luh-ren) is an American publicist, party promoter, and entrepreneur. Often stylized as "The Social Butterfly" due to her appearances at various events across the east coast.
Lia was born in Newark, NJ and raised in Scranton, Pa. She is of Jamaican and West African descent. After graduating high school, Lia went to college for Digital Media Production at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale in Florida, however, shortly after arriving there she decided instead to move to New York City.
Lia began a career in nightlife promotions in Manhattan, NY. Working for a low budget promotion company at first, she soon gained the skills necessary to move to a company of a larger scale called Affinity Nightlife. It was with Affinity that she received the opportunity to promote for popular nightclubs such as The Marquee, Mr. West, and Mansion. Through her dealings with nightlife promotions, she was dubbed "The Social Butterfly".
Later, Lia began working at Rush Communications; There, she was a communications assistant. While working at Rush, Lia also began working as a fashion assistant to outside designers Christine Marchuska and Nary Manivong. Lia began styling, merchandising, and doing public relations work as a fashion assistant. Lia worked several fashion shows backstage including presentations by Nary Manivong, Diane von Furstenburg, Victoria's Secret, and Michael Kors.
In Washington DC, Lia continued PR work for various lounges and small corporations. Eventually,after realizing her skill in PR, she launched her very own PR Firm specializing in fashion and entertainment.
