Lakshmi is an Indian soap opera that airs on Star Plus, starring Sanaya Irani as Lakshmi and Varun Dhawan as Varun.

The show had two seasons competed during 2013 to 2014. The first season aired on 4 February 2013 to 13 September 2013. Due to popular demand, the show was brought back on 14 October 2013 to 8 March 2014. The second season did not do very well.

Lakshmi: Iss Pyaar Mein (season 1)

The series first aired on 4 February 2013. The show ended its series on 13 September 2013. Lakshmi season 1 was aired Monday to Friday at 6PM. The first season did very well with its ratings.

Lakshmi (season 2)

It is a sequel to the first season of Lakshmi. The show aired from 14 October 2013 due to popular demand and ended on 8 March 2014. It first aried on Life Ok then moved to Star Plus. It was not that successful than the first season.


Season 1

This show is about Lakshmi (Sanaya Irani) as her mother tries to get her married but she is not ready yet and rejects it. Then while going to college, she meets Varun (Varun Dhawan) - the hero of the colege. Varun and Lakshmi start hating each other but the Varun falls in love with her and Lakshmi does not know. After that Laxshmi starts to fall in love with Varun too. Later Gauri arranges her second daughter's marriage with Varun's brother, Puneet (Avinash Sachdev). On Simmy's engagement Varun tells Puneet about his love and Lakshmi tells Simmy. Then on Simmy's wedding Varun was going to Lakshmi to express his love and Lakshmi was going to do the same but they both overhear Gauri talking to Varun's aunty that she was going to get Lakshmi married but Varun's aunty said that she would like to get her son - Arhaan to Lakshmi. So they both get really upset.

On Lakshmi's wedding day Varun give her a special gift. She gets happy and marries Arhaan. Arhaan's mother hates Lakshni and tells her to all the work with her other bahu. After Arhan and Lakshmi were leaving the house and then they both have an accident and are taken to hospital. Aishwariya and Varun were about to get married until the news were told. Aishwariya and Varun ran to the hospital. Aishwariya tells Varun that she doesn't want to marry him until her best friend and Arhaan are okay. After the doctor says that Lakshmi is saved but Arhaan is dead. After the funeral Aishwariya leaves Varun and Lakshmi and goes to London.

2 Years Later

Lakshmi is now living with her other and dad and Varun is still with his mother. Varun still loves Axshmi and wants to get close to her. So the both family agrees to let them get married. Naina is not happy about this and plans to kill Lakshmi. On the engagement day a man tries to kill her but misses her. On the wedding day Lakshmi and Varun get married but Naina also gets exposed from her plan. She says sorry to Lakshmi and the show ends.

Season 2 remarks the journey of Lakshmi and Varun after 15 years.

Lakshmi was set in Punjab and then in Mumbai. Lakshmi was very popular for a year until it came off air in September 2013. The fans were disappointed with the ending. But due to fans willing it to come back, the show came back in October 2013 on Life OK but the TRP's went down so the producers decided to move it to Star Plus and replaced the show Apna Pyaar Kya Hai 2.

In December 2013, Sanaya Irani got a place for Colors new show Rangrasiya and left the show. After Sanaya's character demise the TRP went down and went off air.


Sanaya Irani fame from Star Plus' popular show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon,  and film actor Varun Dhawan who was in Student of the Year made his first time on a tv show are the main leads. Then Karan Wahi who was earlier in Nach Baliye 5 is the new lead. Aishwarya Sakhuja also entered the show. In July 2015, Dhawan got replaced by Varun Singh.

In December 2013, Sanaya Irani left the show due to her going on Colors show Rangrasiya, so the producers decided to change the story as Lakshmi dies after goons killed her after her pregnancy.

Then Kritika Sargar came as Aarti who is Lakshmi daughter. Karan Wahi came back with a new character and Nigar Khan who was last seen in Pihu Ki Parivaar Aur Sasural roped in as the bade.

Time and Replacement

Laxshmi airs every Monday to Friday at 8:00 pm and replaced the show Suhag Raat Ek Mohabat Ki Liye

In September 2013 it went off air due to the main leads wanting to quit the show and was replaced by Mahabharat. Note: Laxshmi went off air on the same day as Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai.

End of the show

Laxshmi was announced to go off air in January 2014 but star plus decided to pull it off air at the end of September 2013 due to the male actor Varun Dhawan is doing another film next year called Main Tera Hero.

The show came back in October 2013 on Life OK due to wlling fans and didn't impress the audience so then in December 2013 it moved to Star Plus. In January 2014, Sanaya Irani left the show as she was doing another show on Colors called Rangrasiya, so they decided to end the character of Lakshnmi. After that the ratings dipped seriously and that made it get axed on 7 February 2014.
