Kim Hock (born April 24, 1991) is a mixed martial artist from Singapore.

Background

As a teenager Hock spent too much time playing video games and was extremely overweight. After watching a video of Mike Tyson he decided to join the Juggernaut Fight Club and take up martial arts, at the time he weighed 95 kg.[2] He took gold at the Singapore National Boxing Championships in 2010 and again in 2011, plus the gold in the Invitational Boxing Championship the same year after dropping a weight class. In 2012 he decided to make a foray into wrestling competition at the Singapore National wrestling trials. He ended up winning bronze in his division and was selected for the national team.[3]

MMA career

Hock made his professional MMA debut at ONE Fighting Championship: War of the Lions at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on March 31, 2012 after learning MMA for less than a year. His original opponent was supposed to be another fighter from Singapore [4] also making his debut but he got injured and was replaced at the last minute by the more experienced Major Overall.[5]

Hock won by rear naked choke in the second round [6]

Speaking after the fight Hock said he had been particularly happy to win by submission because he had only been learning BJJ for about 10 months.[7]

On May 20, 2012 it was announced that Hock would be fighting Peter Davis from Malaysia at ONE Fighting Championship: Destiny of Warriors at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur on June 23.[8] Hock is much less experienced than Davis and was just 13 years old when Davis made his professional debut.[9]
