Katlynn Simone Smith (born October 30, 1995), known as Katlynn Simone (pronounced Kate-lin), is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress.[1] She is best known for her role as "Brit Brat".[2] on BET's comedy-drama "The Game"[3]

In 2009 Katlynn auditioned for The Ensemble Theater in Houston and became one of their youngest cast members performing sold out shows nightly. Later the same year, she earned a dramatic lead role in a short film from the Tisch School of Arts at NYU.[4] Her noteworthy performance would soon open doors to the television and film industry leading to a recurring role on the hit BET dramedy series "The Game" in 2010.[2][5] While continuing the show for three seasons, Katlynn continued to focus on her music career teaming up with producers The J.A.M. (Santana, Leona Lewis) for her first single "Stuck in the Middle".[6] Follow-up track "Overboard", was a result of her collaboration with Houston producer Dan Workman (Beyonce, Destiny's Child).[7] In 2012 Katlynn teamed up with music industry management "3 Sixty Music Group"[8] and Grammy nominated producer/songwriter Cedric "Dabenchwarma" Smith.[9]

Early Life

Hailing from Houston, Texas,[10] Katlynn Simone found her fondness for music at a tender age, influenced by her granpa's love for artists such as Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Gladys Knight. At the age of 11 Katlynn started vocal lessons and was impressively singing Jazz and Blues for small audiences and singing competitions.[11]

She attended Houston's High School For The Visual and Performing Arts where she studied musical theater. She soon began modeling and participating in local commercials.
