Shareef Puthalon</big>(born January 16, 1972) is an Indian Carnatic musician, Mappilappatu singer and filmi playback singer.

Kannur shareef sings Mappilappatu, Indian Classical, devotional and cinematic songs . He has recorded more than 10,000 songs[not in citation given] in many mappilappatu during a career spanning more than two decades. He also composed a number of Mappilappatu songs. Kannur Shareef is fondly called yesudas (A Famous Indian Singer) of Mappilappatu .

Kannur Shareef has won many mappilappatu awards. He was awarded for the best mappilappattu singer many times. He sang 2 film songs in malayalam.

Early life and background

Kannur Shareef was born in City,in Kannur District, in a middle class family as a son of late Moosakkutty and Afsath Puthalon. His father, who was Non- resident and worked in Singapore. He studied at Govt. higher secondery school city, kannur, Music Teacher of this school was his first guru in Karnatic Sangeeth after schooling he continued his music studies by going her home. Later he studied at Jaybees College , pallikkulam, kannur but could not complete his studies due to financial constraints. In college they created a music troupe along with orchestration and he was the main singer of that troupe.

Personal life

Shareef got married to Fasila . They have two childerns Shifa Sharin and Mohd Shibil. The family is currently settled in Kannur, Kerala.

Mohammed Rafi and Gulam Ali are the ones he admires the most.
