Jonathan Bates (born March 19, 1995) is an English Tenor Horn player and Composer from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. He is currently the youngest composer to have a work selected for the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain series, and also the youngest composer to receive a world premiere at the RNCM Festival of Brass. Jonathan is a member of the world famous Black Dyke Band, principal horn of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, and was a Brass Category finalist in the 2012 BBC Young Musician of the Year competition.

Playing career

Jonathan took up the Tenor Horn aged 9 with the Thurlstone Band, based in Millhouse Green, nr. Penistone.
