Joe Mitchell (born 26 August 2001) is an English association footballer who plays as a striker for North Wilts side Wootton Bassett U12. He previously played for Wootton Bassett U8, U9, U10 and U11, becoming their record goalscorer. He has also represented his Primary school, Westlea Primary, where he finished 2nd top scorer.

Club career

Wootton Bassett

Mitchell started playing for Wootton Bassett at an early age and struggled to make an impact in his first season for the club. His football career took off when he came under the guidance of amateur tactician and manager Robert Mitchell, when the respected coach took over the role as club manager in 2008. His faith in the young striker was soon paid off when Joe scored 6 goals in the first match of the season. His incredible scoring feat continued throughout the season, ammassing a record-breaking 46 golas for the club.

Joe's prowess in front of goal continued during the next two seasons despite his sides indifferent form. Joe continued to score at a rate of 1 goal every game and finished top goalscorer in each of his seasons at the club.

Season 2012-2013 started in a similar manner with Daniel Carey joining Joe up front. They soon formed a spectacular partnership with both strikers passing the 10 goal mark quickly, including an incredible 8 goal demolition of Brinkworth Cats with both strikers scoring 4 goals apiece. Daniel's form in front of goal dipped but Joe continued to find the net on a regular basis and sees his season's tally at 14 at the halfway point.

Personal life

Born in Reading, Mitchell soon moved to Swindon and when he was 4 joined Westlea School. He went on to represent Westlea and enjoyed a successful few years with the team scoring some important goals along the way.
