Mian Tariq Hassan:
Tariq completed his B.A. Economics from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 2001, an LL.B. from the University of London in 2004 and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 2007. He was admitted as an Advocate by the Punjab Bar Council in 2005 and as an Advocate of the High Court in 2007.
Tariq’s mentor at the beginning of his law career was Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan with whom he worked as an Associate Advocate from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, Tariq was admitted to Harvard Law School where he completed his LL.M. with specialization in corporate law with coursework in corporations, mergers and acquisitions, international trade, negotiation and mediation. Tariq returned from Harvard in September 2007 and rejoined Aitzaz Ahsan & Associates as a Senior Associate. This was truly an extraordinary time in Pakistan’s history with Barrister Ahsan leading what came to be known as the “lawyer’s movement”. Tariq was an active participant in this movement to uphold the rule of law and soon a member of Barrister Ahsan’s core team against the imposition of emergency rule in November 2007 and hence, involved in a number of landmark constitutional cases at the time.
Tariq joined Chima & Ibrahim (a premier Lahore-based corporate transactional law firm) in September 2008 and worked there until July 2010 when he left for Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to take up an in-house short-term assignment for 6 months. Tariq returned to Lahore, Pakistan in March 2011 to join Hassan & Rahim.
