George Patton founded George Patton Associates in 1974. The company was incorporated in 1975. It is headquartered in Bristol, RI.[3][5][4][6]

George Patton founded George Patton Associates after freelancing as a display designer for local companies. The company began as a traditional display house. It offered no-cost prototypes “for show” and to attract big orders. George Patton hired his sons, Tom and Chris, to develop a steadier and predictable business flow. The new company direction emphasized stock products and inventory. In 1984, it released its first line of pre-made products under the trade name Plasticrafters.[4][8]

Since 1984, George Patton Associates has steadily added new specialty websites to its system. The company operates more than 40 brand names and websites. Its trade names are operated through three warehouse locations.[3][4] [9] Roughly 90% of the company’s revenue comes from online sales.[7]

In 1992, George Patton sold the company to his sons. Tom Patton became the company’s president and Chris Patton became the CEO.[9][10] As of 2011, George Patton Associates served 150,000 unique customers every year and hosted 20,000 unique website visitors every day.[4] It also earned $52 million in revenues.[7]

In March 2012, TAKKT AMERICA subsidiary K+K America Corporation announced that it would acquire George Patton Associates. The acquisition was worth nearly $100 million, to be made in two installments in 2012 and 2015. TAKKT AG planned to make George Patton Associates part of its Specialties Group. The current owners will continue to manage the company after the deal is complete.[2][7]
