Flames of Hell was an icelandic black metal band from Reykjavik. The band was formed in the year 1984 and went on to release their only LP in 1987 entitled Fire and Steel.

Recording their album

The band recorded their album in a recording studio in a Reykjavik YMCA that was meant for the recording of Christian hymns for the local churches. The head masters of the YMCA over heard what was going on and soon told the band that they could never come back to the YMCA. The songs that they recorded would then be pressed on to the LP called fire and steel that was released that same year on Draconian Records.
