The Fargo Police Department, sometimes referred to as "FPD", is the primary law enforcement organization serving Fargo, North Dakota in the United States. The Department has a staff of 145 officers and 16 support personnel. The Department is headed by a Chief of Police, and is divided into three divisions, Administrative Services, Field Services, and Investigations, each headed by a Deputy Chief, with several Lieutenants and Sergeants assigned as shift and unit commanders.
Until recently, two positions in the department held the rank of Captain. Due to recent restructuring within the department, both Captains have been elevated to the rank of Deputy Chief, and no other officers currently hold the rank of Captain.
