The Grove has seen dramatic improvements in its league table placings and disciplinary measures since the Spring of 2005, when the headteacher's position was taken over by Mrs Jenny Jones, who brought radical changes to make improvements to the College Community. Following outstanding GCSE results and a positive Ofsted report, Jones recently announced that she would be moving on to the nearby Filsham Valley School in Edinburgh Road, St Leonards on Sea, to help make similar improvements there. She will be succeeded as Headteacher of The Grove by current Deputy Headteacher, Fiona Calderbloke.
Results & League Tables
After a 12% GCSE Pass Rate in Summer 2009 (Based on the proportion of students that received at least 5 A*-C Grades including English & Maths), the Grove vowed to clamp down on its teaching. It joined the Hastings Schools Federation and underwent dramatic changes to the school's disciplinary measures, timetabling and teaching methods under the guidance of the Federation's Executive Leader, Sir Dexter Hutt, Chief and Founder of Ninestiles Plus, a programme he created to help schools who were under-performing in the league tables.
In the Summer of 2010, the Grove achieved an 80% 5 A*-C pass rate, making it the single most improved school in the whole South East of England that year, and makes it the Second Highest Performing School in the Hastings area.
