Daisuke Ando (安藤大佑 Ando Daisuke, born 1983) is a Japanese filmmaker. Born in Fukuoka, Kyushu, Ando grew up an avid film fan. Since he was little, he has long been interested in special effects TV programs, such as Godzilla. In 2002, He entered Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and studied Korean language. With cooperation from his classmates, he also started filming some short stories he wrote. In 2004, Ando went to Korea to study at Seoul National University. While studying, he also joined filmmaking as an assistant director or interpreter. In 2006, Ando directed Ketsuwari, a story of a Korean coal miner in Fukuoka, his hometown.
