Build a School is a UK charity (Registration: 1118476) who help raise funds to build schools.

Their first school was launched in September[when?] and is now being used. Since then the charity has got a lot of media coverage from the BBC, ITV and the KM newspaper.[citation needed]

Mbelekete Primary School

Mbelekete was the first school funded by Build a School grants.[citation needed] The cost of the school was estimated at £40,000 to build, and has five classrooms which replaces the old "school" in the village church. The modern school was built by a local builder called Jack who has been involved in similar projects in the past. Although exact details of the school haven't been confirmed it's suspected the school fulfilled its plans.[citation needed]

The charity received many celebrity endorsements.[who?] Theo Walcott, an Arsenal and England football (soccer) player became involved, signing memorabilia - most of which was to be sold off to raise funds, whilst other bits would be given to the villagers. The charity was also spotlighted by Private Eye editor and Have I Got News for You panellist Ian Hislop.[citation needed]
