British Airways Flight 117 is a scheduled flight from Heathrow Airport, London to John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York. On 2nd October 2012, the routine flight took off at 9:20am. During take-off, flight crew were alerted to the handle one of the cabin doors juddering violently, which suggested that the door had not closed properly, which could have caused a catastrophic de-pressurization of the cabin at high altitude.[1]

The plane returned to Heathrow, landing at 9:31, eleven minutes after take-off, as a precaution. The plane restarted its journey at 3pm that day.[2]
