Bansuri Guru, the film

Bansuri Guru is a 2012-13 documentary film based on the life of the flute maestro Pt.Hariprasad Chaurasia. The film has been produced by the Government of India's Films Division, and has been directed by Rajeev Chaurasia, Pt.Hariprasad Chaurasia's son.

Bansuri Guru sums up Pt.Hariprasad Chaurasia's life journey so far, his quest for excellence, mastering a passion, and preparing to leave a legacy for future generations.


The film features a series of interviews with the flute maestro in his own environment - his home, in auditorium green rooms, his Gurukul's or schools in Mumbai & Bhubaneshwar. The film aims to give viewers a glimpse of Panditji's persona, never seen by the world before.

The film also features guest interviews with Panditji's inner circle - his professional partners and his family.

The film has been narrated by Amitabh Bachchan.
