Assan Njie (born January 26, 1984) is a Swedish professional mixed martial artist of Swedish and Gambian descent, currently fighting for GBG MMA in Gothenburg.[1] In the ring he always brings ferocious striking to complement his slick submission game.

He has trained with notable fighters such as Wanderlei Silva and Shogun Rua during a camp at the Chute Boxe Academy in Brazil, where he spent one month in 2004,[2] and furthermore with Alistair Overeem during his affiliation with the Dutch MMA Team Golden Glory.[3]

In his biggest win to date he defeated former UFC fighter Sean Salmon in impressive fashion via TKO in the first round.

Assan Njie was ranked #10 in Bloody Elbow's World MMA Middleweight Scouting Report in December 2010, consisting of prospects with high likelihood of signing with a large promotion within the next year.[4] Njie is slated to square off with the highly touted Russian, Beslan Isaev, at Superior Challenge 7 April 20, 2011.[5] Assan choked Isaev out cold with a guillotine choke in the first round.

He's started 2012 off impressively with two wins. In March 16 he defeated Steven Ray via submission, and then less than two months later he won the Zone FC Welterweight Championship after having defeated Morten Djursaa via decision in a back-and-fourth barn burner.
