Arunima Gupta (which means early morning sunlight, or the red glow of sunrise) was born on June 23, 1995, and is an Indian-turned-Singaporean citizen. She likens herself to Tigger from Winnie-the-Pooh, and this comparison has been proven to be true as they are both cheerful and outgoing. She bakes cookies, brownies, cupcakes and other delicious confectioneries that she regularly takes pictures of and uploads onto Facebook, much to the dismay of everyone who has not tried her amazing baked goods. She watches a variety of sitcoms and other shows like Glee, Friends, Mythbusters, How I Met Your Mother, Drake & Josh, and The Big Bang Theory.
Gupta was born in a crazy state (pun intended) and moved to Singapore. Her stellar academic record saw her progress from Henry Park Primary School to Raffles Girls’ Secondary School, and then to Raffles Institution (Junior College). She is currently taking H2 Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics, as well as H1 General Paper and Project Work.
Gupta speaks English and Hindi, and is mostly known for her individuality, brilliance in Mathematics, and amazing sense of humour. She is an intellectual student, avid guitar player, charming beauty and most of all, a loyal friend.
She was a member of her school softball team from 2008-2011 and is now the proud Secretary of the One Earth Executive Committee in Raffles Institution, as well as a dedicated member of the school’s Fencing Co-Curricular Activity (CCA). Gupta’s athletic abilities and her passion for wildlife make her a companionable, well-rounded individual, not only in her exceptional academics but other faculties as well.
Gupta is part of the Science Research Programme, which aim is to enable very capable students who aspire to a higher level of challenge to undertake projects under the supervision of academics and scientists in real research environments. It is the most premier research attachment programme among students in schools and junior colleges in Singapore.
