Anne Blake (née Cunningham) (born 10 April 1937) is a British actress from Leeds, England. Cunningham played Linda Cheveski in Coronation Street on and off for nearly twenty-four years, making her final appearance on 20 June 1984. She continued to act after leaving the programme and co-starred in two series of World of his Own with Roy Kinnear, as well as guest starring in numerous other shows. In films Anne has played Ella in Bitter Harvest, Judith in This Sporting Life, and Mam in Man at the top. She also appeared in Doctor in Clover. On television, she has made appearences in The Avengers (TV series) and The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin. More recently she has appeared in television advertisements for the car company Kia Motors and the pharmaceutical company Boots UK, appearing in the popular "Here come the girls" series of commercials.
Anne Cunningham was born in Leeds on the 10th of April 1937. Soon after her birth her father was transfered to South Africa to take part in General Montgomery's World War 2 desert campaign. Following his return in 1945, the family moved to South Africa. Whilst in South Africa, she was educated at a exclusive private school. She trained as a teacher of speech and drama and following her return to the UK worked at a modern secondary school in Kent.
In 1965 Cunningham married director Darrol Blake. They have three daughters, Philippa, Louise and Claire. Her first daughter Philippa is named after her co-star from Coronation Street Philip Lowrie who is also Philippa's Godfather. In 1996 Philippa gave birth to Cunningham's first grandchild, Jack Orr. In 2000 Philippa also gave birth to twins, Harry and Ben. She currently resides in Barnes.
