Alexis Jayne Defoe is a British actress. Following an early acting career in fringe theatre she was cast as the moody and irreconcilable Dawn in the cult horror film Sparrow (2010). In 2011, she joined Geek Syndicate as a contributing panelist on their Doctor Who podcast.


Defoe graduated from the University of East Anglia with a degree in Film and American Studies before training at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London.[1] After her studies, she went on to appear in a number of short films and fringe plays in and around London, including as Elisabeth in Who Will Carry the Word? at the Courtyard Theatre.[1][2]

In March 2010 Defoe went on to be cast as one of the leads in Shaun Troke's horror Sparrow.[3] The film was shot in Poland, where she stayed for the duration of the shoot.[4]

Recently, Defoe appeared as Jane in Sharon Mark's short film Mystery Man from Magic Pearl Productions.

Personal life

Defoe is a vegan.[5]
