Aaron Greene (born 2 January 1990 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland) is an Irish footballer who plays for Sligo Rovers in the League of Ireland.

Career

Aaron joined Galway United from St. Francis in 2009 making his League of Ireland debut on 11 August. He scored five times in fourteen games[1] for the club.[2] His most high profile strike was the goal that ended on 30 October in a 1–1 draw at Tallaght Stadium hopes for the title of Shamrock Rovers.[3]

During the Irish off season, Greene trialled with Dundee United,[4] and Peterborough United.

After spending pre-season in training with Bohemians, he signed for Pat Fenlon's side in February 2010. Greene scored once in 18 league games, in a 3–1 win over Dundalk on the last day of the season. He also scored against Bray Wanderers in the FAI Cup and at Monaghan United in the League Cup on 10 May, but the striker missed a penalty in the shootout as Bohs were knocked out.

In February 2011, Greene was announced as having signed for League of Ireland Premier Division outfit Sligo Rovers. He scored on his debut for Sligo on the opening game of the season in a 1–0 victory against Derry City.

On 9 August, Greene made his Republic of Ireland U-21 debut in a 2–1 friendly victory over Austria in Sligo. He made his competitive debut at the same venue in November in a 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship win over Liechtenstein.[5]

In February 2012 he signed for his home town club League of Ireland Champions Shamrock Rovers.[6]

In a disappointing season Greene scored the winner in the Leinster Senior Cup final.[7]
