caVa caVa was a New Wave band from Bournemouth, England. They released just one album, in 1983.

Career

caVa caVa's career was short-lived, with just three official singles and one album released between 1982 and 1983, though they contributed two songs to a 1981 collection called "The Apprentices Dance".[2] The band consisted of Steven Parris, Richard Hixson, Derek Ritchie, and John Hallet.

Hailing from Bournemouth, caVa caVa's career was accelerated by BBC Radio 1 disc jockey Peter Powell, who noticed the band during their summer residency at a nightclub called "Maison Rouge". His interest in the band led to a session on his radio show, which caught the interest of Regard Records, a sub-label of RCA.[3] They remained on this label for the duration of the band's existence.

The band was featured in the September 30, 1982 issue of Smash Hits magazine, including a full-color photo of the band and an interview with the singer, Steven Parris.[4][5]

Their lone album was produced by Tim Friese-Greene, who also produced albums by Talk Talk, Thomas Dolby, Catherine Wheel, and Lush.[6]
